Piping and HVAC, coordinated with every other system.

Process piping, heating, ventilation and plumbing, planned alongside our electrical and fire protection crews so pipe, duct and conduit fit the first time.

Mechanical

Mechanical rooms are where space runs out first.

Pumps, boilers, air handlers, piping, duct, sprinkler mains and cable tray all compete for the same few metres of ceiling and floor. When those systems are installed by separate contractors, the first trade in tends to take the best route and everyone else works around it.

Our mechanical crews plan their work with our electrical and fire protection teams from the start. The result is mechanical rooms that are easier to build, easier to maintain and that leave access to the equipment operators will need to reach.

Mechanical scope

What we build.

Delivered by our own mechanical crews, coordinated with the rest of the Enertec team on the same project.

  • Process piping

Stainless, carbon steel and ductile iron piping for pumping, treatment and industrial process systems.

  • HVAC & ventilation

Air handling, exhaust and make-up air systems, including ductwork and controls coordination.

  • Plumbing & drainage

Domestic water, sanitary and storm systems for residential and institutional buildings.

  • Heating & cooling plants

Boilers, chillers, heat pumps and the pumps and piping that connect them.

  • Hydronic systems

Heating and chilled water distribution, balanced and commissioned.

  • Welding & fabrication

Shop and field fabrication of piping assemblies and supports.

Delivery

How a mechanical scope runs.

The same sequence on every project, adapted to the facility and the schedule.

  1. Coordination drawings

Pipe and duct routed with electrical and sprinkler layouts before anything is fabricated.

  2. Prefabrication

Spools, headers and pump skids built in controlled conditions and delivered ready to set.

  3. Installation & pressure testing

Systems installed, supported and pressure tested section by section.

  4. Start-up & balancing

Equipment started with the manufacturer, systems flushed, balanced and handed over.

How we work

Fewer clashes, less rework.

Because our mechanical, electrical and fire protection crews coordinate from the same drawings, conflicts get solved in the model instead of on site.

Prefabricated piping assemblies cut install time in tight mechanical rooms and occupied buildings.

Codes & standards we build to
CSA B51
Boiler, pressure vessel and pressure piping code
ASME B31
Power and process piping codes
CSA B52
Mechanical refrigeration code
Plumbing codes
National Plumbing Code of Canada and the plumbing codes adopted locally in the US
Editions and local amendments vary by jurisdiction.
Questions

Common questions.

Do you work on potable water and process piping in the same facility?

Yes. Water and wastewater facilities need both, and we keep materials, testing and disinfection procedures separate for each system.

Can you replace equipment in an occupied building?

Yes. On campuses and in residences we schedule noisy work, shutdowns and crane lifts around the people using the building.

Do you prefabricate?

Where it saves time or improves quality, yes. Piping assemblies and pump skids are common candidates.

Who balances and commissions the systems?

We start up equipment with the manufacturers’ representatives and work with the balancing agency and commissioning authority through to turnover.
