Sprinkler systems, installed and tested to code.

We install and verify fire protection systems that pass inspection on schedule and protect the people who live, study and work in the buildings we build.

Fire Protection

The system nobody notices until the day it has to work.

A sprinkler system can sit untouched for decades and then has seconds to perform. That is why fire protection work is held to some of the most detailed installation and testing requirements in construction.

Our fire protection crews install sprinkler, standpipe and fire pump systems for residential, institutional and industrial buildings, and they coordinate with our electrical crews on the monitoring, alarm and fire pump power connections that have to work with them.

Fire Protection scope

What we build.

Delivered by our own fire protection crews, coordinated with the rest of the Enertec team on the same project.

  • Wet sprinkler systems

Standard coverage for residences, academic buildings and commercial spaces.

  • Dry & pre-action systems

For parkades, unheated spaces and areas where accidental discharge isn’t an option.

  • Standpipes

Standpipe and hose systems for mid- and high-rise buildings.

  • Fire pumps

Fire pump installation, controllers and associated piping.

  • Backflow prevention

Backflow assemblies installed and tested to protect the water supply.

  • Testing & verification

Hydrostatic testing, flushing and documentation for inspection and occupancy.

Delivery

How a fire protection scope runs.

The same sequence on every project, adapted to the facility and the schedule.

  1. Water supply & layout review

Flow test data, hydraulic calculations and layout drawings checked before installation starts.

  2. Coordinated installation

Mains and branch lines routed with mechanical and electrical, floor by floor.

  3. Testing & flushing

Hydrostatic tests, underground flushing and alarm device checks with the fire alarm contractor.

  4. Inspection & turnover

Witnessed acceptance testing, certificates and documentation the owner needs for occupancy.

How we work

Occupancy permits on time.

Student housing and campus buildings open on fixed dates. We schedule fire protection testing and inspections so occupancy permits are never the last thing holding up a move-in.

Our fire protection layouts are coordinated with mechanical and electrical early, so sprinkler mains don’t end up fighting duct and cable tray.

Codes & standards we build to
NFPA 13
Installation of sprinkler systems
NFPA 14 / NFPA 20
Standpipe systems and stationary fire pumps
NFPA 25
Inspection, testing and maintenance of water-based systems
CSA B64.10
Selection and installation of backflow preventers
Editions and local amendments vary by jurisdiction.
Questions

Common questions.

Do you handle sprinkler work in occupied buildings?

Yes. Retrofits in residences and campus buildings are planned around occupants, with impairment procedures in place whenever a system is out of service.

Who coordinates with the fire alarm contractor?

We do. Flow switches, tamper switches and fire pump signals are tested together with the fire alarm system before inspection.

Can you install fire pumps as well as sprinklers?

Yes, including the pump, controller and piping, with the power connection handled by our electrical crews.

Do you provide testing documentation for occupancy?

Yes. Test certificates and records are assembled as part of turnover, not after it.
